  1. I was very disappointed with Mr. Kurtis’s presentation. I believe he missed a great opportunity to highlight the positive relationship that the media and military can enjoy under the proper circumstances. More specifically, if had led his presentation with the Agent Orange story he would have built initial trust with the audience. Moreover, through that example he would have demonstrated that the journalist was the catalyst for positive change to the military and not the military or chemical companies. Instead he rambled through this successful career using misplaced examples to draw ambiguous conclusions. At the end of the presentation I was unclear why he was speaking to the class. Additionally I felt that the video series at the end of his presentation was distasteful, off topic, and full of self promotion.

  2. Mr. Kurtis delivered an interesting presentation that consisted of his own narrative of his own exploits and career. He also touched on his interaction with the military over the years and the results of that interaction on various groups including American veterans and the American public. The content of his presentation I found a little disjointed in that I couldn't determin his "thesis" or main point that he was trying to convey. I was hoping for some insights that I may use in dealing with the media as that was the purpose of our block of instruction. On a positive note, I found Mr. Kurtis to be an exceptionally polished speaker with a good mastery of his presentation style. My critcal feed back would be that he failed to properly identify and address his target audience.
